Southernmost House

The Southernmost House is a museum and a historic inn on the ocean in Key West, Florida. It is situated in the Upper Duval district, very near the Duval Street, the exciting street for nightlife in this captivating island in the Florida Keys. The Southernmost House has the honor that five Presidents of the United States have stayed here in the past. The Southernmost House was constructed for Vining Harris, a Judge of Key West, as a private residence at a cost of $250,000 in 1896. In 1939, the house and inn got converted into Café Cayo Hueso, a Cuban nightclub. In 1954, it became a residence again.

However, in 1996, the Southernmost House and inn underwent an elaborate renovation costing $3 million, to become a hotel with 18 guestrooms and historic suites, all of them furnished elegantly. Each room differs in design with its own individual personality to offer unique experience to the guests. The Southernmost House hotel offers two types of rooms, courtyard view rooms and ocean view rooms. All the rooms have king size or queen size beds, air conditioning, private and spacious bathrooms in a tropical setting. The suites of the house are among the most coveted accommodations in the island.

The Southernmost House has partnered with Fury Water Adventures for visitors who wish to admire the sunset in Key West. The hotel guests could sail off to the sea before the sunset aboard a Fury Catamaran, a state of the art and spacious catamaran. The guests could listen to live music and enjoy free beer, appetizers, and margaritas on board the catamaran, while enjoying the sunset of Key West.

The Southernmost House is also famous for offering an ideal locale for weddings. The wedding parties could select a wide range of wedding venues, such as an elegant wedding inside the mansion, an intimate gathering on the hotel veranda or by the hotel pool, or an oceanfront glittering ceremony at sunset under the stars. Many visitors and locals also celebrate their birthdays, wedding anniversaries, wedding receptions and other important events or social gatherings at the Southernmost House. The house offers luncheons in the pavilion, tea parties in the hotel salon, poolside cocktails, and silver or crystal dinners under moonlight for such occasions.
